Happy Mother's Day!

You taught me to :
Add more friends
Subtract ego and dead ends
Multiply happiness and joys
Divide things between girls and boys
Making you my favorite Mathematician!

You taught me to :
Use love as noun and verb
Add beautiful adjectives and adverbs
Make words a magical world
And in meaningful conversations how to hold!
Making you my favorite English teacher!

You taught me that :
Motion X Acceleration can also be Force
To resolve frictions on all surface not just coarse
Pressure, Stress and Torque are also a necessity
Just as Speed, Velocity and Gravity
Making you my favorite Physicist!

You taught me that :
The art of  cooking
How important are H2O, CaCO3, NaCl and other things
Mixing the right acids, alkalis, sugar and salts
Yield yummy cakes, cookies and malt!
Making you my favorite Chemist!

You taught me to :
Take pride in our family tree
And all the important people around me
Who and where my folks are
Having me wonder how you remember this far!
Making you my favorite Historian!

You taught me :
That travelling the world is not just fun
But an utterly essential one
Knowing cultures, and getting me interested in places
And in reveling in lovely new faces
Making you my favorite Geography teacher!

You taught me :
That sports builds character
And how I should work as a team and its protector
How winning and losing are a part of the game
And I should first play the game and then aspire for fame
Making you my favorite PE teacher

You taught me all the subjects
Also times when I should accept and times I should object
You taught me beyond all books
So the best All-Rounder professor award you took!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Perfect Imperfection

Have you observed the asymmetry
In the petals of a carnation?
Its imperfect fractal geometry
    Amalgamates into a perfect creation!

How curious are those assorted arcs
    Ascending from violet to red
Whose imperfect array of bright and dark
Forms the perfect rainbow over your head!

Have you paid heed to the bees, toads and birds
Buzzing, croaking and chirping in cacophony?
How in tandem the imperfect chord
    Transforms into a perfect symphony!

Take a moment each day to relish
The myriad hues and tones of the sunset
An imperfect palate of purple, pink and orangish
Is bound to leave you in perfect delight!

What about the fingers on your hands and toes
That help you weave, knead, stand and twirl
Their imperfect sizes of highs and lows
Getting you that perfect bow and hurl!

Just think of the adorable baby
  Giggling, smiling and babbling
In a language so imperfect that in reality
Is the one that’s perfect, pure and endearing!

In this worlds that’s imperfectly perfect
Would it be wiser to say?
Given that all that’s imperfect
  Is perfectly nice this way!

Book of Life

The flamboyant one, the Ms.Popular
Is enjoying teaching kindergartners!

The one who was the non-conformist, the rebel
Is safeguarding borders, making the enemy tremble!

The front bencher jotting down all the notes
Is an influencer disseminating powerful prose and quotes!

The close-knit, chatty back benchers group
Has metamorphosed as a career coach troupe!

I recalled the uptight, fashionista lass
Is a dreaded attorney with power and class!

The studious topper year after year
Ditched academics to pursue a culinary career!

The kid that couldn’t design his science project
Is weaving magic, reaching fashion design targets!

And the one who was mocked for his stutter
Creates mesmerizing photos, a wizard of his shutter!

The athletics pro, the queen of the tracks
Is a travel writer, riveting readers with her story telling knack!

And that shy, quiet, reticent boy
Has delivered many many bundles of joy!

The class reunion was an eye opener
Of the dreams hidden beneath layers!

Reaffirming that each child has a unique path to uncover
And why a book should never be judged by its cover!

Nagging!

Don’t bite your nails lady
Don’t fiddle with the milk cup
Your room the nest of a birdie
So please tidy up

Focus in class lil girl
And brush your teeth once at night and the day
Get your feet off the couch, don’t twirl
Do you hear what I say ?

Your writing is too big silly
Oh now its too small
Don’t pluck the leaves and lily
And please don’t write on the wall

Don’t talk too loud
Oh now you are talking too soft
Be polite, and respectful, not too proud
And please don’t climb the loft

You can be anything you want
The sky is your limit
But you can’t do things causing a taunt
And learn to be docile and delicate

-Miss not enjoying nagging

 The Reply!

Wow! Your poem means so much to us
Because you make it plain
You don’t like us telling you and causing a fuss
Again and again and again

You made a wonder point with humor
Also with wit and rhyme
Dad and I got the message with a spur
And just in time!

Nagging is a parental obsession
Of this there is no doubt
So here is a big confession
We hear you, do you have another way to go about?

Darling, we are so proud of you and your swag!
And it’s a joy to watch you grow
The reason we nag nag nag
Is cause we love you so!

-Loving Nagging dad and mom!

Here's to!

Here’s to the new tally mark
               On your B’day wall!
To the brand new year that you embark
And for all the memories – big and small!

Here’s to the memories
Of the chirpy girl at school!
When life was all fun with no worries
Like drinking from the magic pool!

Here’s to the feisty lass
               That stood a class apart!
Chasing dreams through the looking glass
               And succumbed to the matters-of-the-heart!

Here’s to the proud mother
               Of a lovely, lilting girl
Now chasing rainbows ends
With your doll of enchanting curls!!

Here’s a B’day wish to a charming friend
               For a lovely year ahead
A wish for peace, health and happiness we send
In the journey you’re about to tread

Let it go!

When you long for sunshine
But all you get is rain
Just let it go
For it takes both to make a rainbow!!

When you want to be heard
But it seems like no one paid heed to your word
Just let it go
For silence is very powerful just so you know!!

When you want to feel important
But everyone around appear distant
Just let it go
For there is nothing like winning over your ego!!

When you were rough in your talk
But wished you just chose to walk
Just let it go
For at times you have to deal with a row!!

When you want to be the real you
But succumb to the onlookers cue
Just let it go
For when you are in charge, not the world so take a bow!!

When you think you've reached the end
But hope that its just a bend
Just let it go
For there is always a high after a low!!

When your mind craves for peace
But a wave of thoughts in your heart tease
Just let it go
For there us nothing like going with the flow!!

When time seems frozen
But you want it to loosen
Just let it go
For that's the wisest path for happiness to grow!!
